Hot Water Cliftleigh

Cliftleigh Plumbing Co repairs, replaces and installs hot water systems across Cliftleigh and the neighbouring estates, with a fixed price agreed before work starts. On arrival the system is tested, and if the cylinder has failed, a temporary hot water tank can be fitted while the replacement is organised.

Plumber finishing a continuous-flow gas hot water install

Cliftleigh Hot Water Services

Hot Water Repairs

Fixing the part, keeping the tank:

  • Elements, thermostats, tempering valves and relief valves
  • Gas pilots that will not stay alight
  • No hot water at night, through our emergency plumber line

Hot Water System Replacement

When repair is no longer worth it:

  • A like-for-like swap, or a change to a heat pump
  • A loan tank until the replacement is delivered
  • Removal of the old unit, and a test run on the new one

Gas Hot Water

Storage cylinders and continuous-flow units:

  • New installs, changeovers from electric and repairs
  • Hooked up by a licensed gas fitter; see gas fitting for pipework

Electric Hot Water

Storage tanks and instant electric heaters:

  • Repairs and replacements sized for family homes
  • Whether staying electric suits you, or a switch to a heat pump makes more sense

Solar Hot Water

Roof collectors with a gas or electric booster:

  • Installs, repairs and booster checks
  • Weighed against a heat pump unit before you choose

An option for houses on electric storage:

How Do You Know a Cylinder Is Finished?

Some faults are repairable, and some mean the tank is done. The plumber decides after a test, not over the phone.

Can be repaired

A unit that runs cold halfway through a shower can have a failed element or thermostat, and either can be changed without touching the tank. A dripping relief valve is a valve job.

Likely finished

Water seeping from the base of the tank means the steel inside has rusted through, and brown or discoloured hot water points the same way. A tank that needs a second repair inside a year is costing more than it saves.

You see the test results before choosing, and the fixed price covers whichever option you pick.

Which Hot Water System Suits a House Here?

The right pick comes down to your home, how many people live in it and whether gas is connected:

Electric storage

A tank heated by an element, for houses without gas or a simple like-for-like swap.

Instant electric

Water is heated on demand at the point of use.

Gas storage

A gas-heated tank that recovers quickly when several showers run in a row.

Continuous-flow gas

Heats water as it flows, sized to the number of bathrooms.

Solar

Collectors on the roof, boosted on cloudy days, using the large rooflines on these homes.

Heat pump

A compressor unit warms the tank using heat from the air; the heat pump page explains more.

The same licensed gas fitters who connect gas water heaters also handle gas appliance installation elsewhere in the house.

Cylinders Hitting Mid-Life on the Estate

Original units ageing

The estate's brick-veneer homes date from the 2000s onward, and the water heaters installed in its first stages have now done a good many years of work.

Full households

Census figures record an average of 2.9 people per household and a median age of 27, and 76.9 per cent of dwellings have at least four bedrooms. Several showers before school and work mean a cold cylinder cannot sit for long.

Familiar alternatives

Area-level figures count 1,454 heat pump and 1,644 solar hot water installs. Outdoor units here also sit on low ground with a high water table, so a level, well-drained base matters when one goes in.

What Shapes the Price of Hot Water Work?

The system and its size are the biggest factor: a continuous-flow gas unit is a different job from putting the same tank back.

The rest depends on:

  • Where the unit sits From a wall bracket beside the laundry to solar collectors up on the roof
  • The existing pipework Which may suit the new unit as it is or need altering
  • Night and weekend work Charged as after-hours

  1. 01

    Ring or send the form

Call (02) 4063 3475 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

  2. 02

    A fixed price first

A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

  3. 03

    Test, then fix or replace

After testing, the faulty part or the complete system is changed as agreed, and the water is checked for temperature before the plumber goes.

  4. 04

    Covered for a year

Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Jobs That Sit With Another Trade

When we're not the right call: if a heat pump or solar booster has no power because the house wiring or the meter box is at fault, that is for an electrician to sort before we finish the plumbing. A leaking gas meter belongs to the gas distributor.

What Customers Say

They looked after an issue with the hot water system for us. It turned out that the unit was faulty. To ensure hot water, they immediately replaced the unit with a temporary one.

Hot Water FAQs for the Estate

Do you supply a temporary hot water tank while the new unit is on order?

Yes. If your cylinder has failed and the new one cannot be fitted straight away, a temporary hot water tank can be connected so the house still has hot water. It is listed in the fixed price before anything is ordered.

Our Cliftleigh cylinder is nine years old and dripping from the base. Is that a repair?

Probably not. A leak at the base of a storage cylinder points to the inner tank rusting through, and no seal can fix that from outside. The plumber tests it first and gives you a straight answer, so you are not paying to patch a tank that needs replacing.

Can you swap our electric storage unit for a heat pump hot water system?

Yes. The heat pump page explains how the units work and how a changeover from an electric tank is done. You get a fixed price for the swap, and the install carries our 365-day warranty on all work.

Is a hot water replacement covered by your warranty?

Yes. A valve swap, a new element or a whole new system all carry our 365-day warranty on all work. If anything we fitted gives trouble within that year, ring the same number.
